Sustainability of ICT Based Systems: A Case Study

Cochin University of Science & Technology has successfully implemented an ICT based project (INFOCUS) with financial assistance from the Netherlands and supported by the Delft University of Technology. The project is intended to contribute to academic and administrative excellence through the development of a state of the art data communication infrastructure and the installation of comprehensive information systems. A very reliable cusat e-mail, accessible from any part of the world and a high bandwidth internet access system, which has enabled subscription to about 250 e-journals, are some of the results of the project. A comprehensive Management Information System is also getting ready. Essential technical details of the data communication infrastructure, with an indication of the performance are also intended to be covered.

Dr. Jacob K. Poulose

K.Poulose Jacob, Professor of Computer Science at Cochin University of Science and Technology since 1994, is currently Director of the School of Computer Science Studies there. A National Merit Scholar all through, Dr. Jacob has been teaching at the Cochin University since 1980. A graduate in Electrical Engineering and Post Graduate in Digital Electronics, he had his Phd in Computer Engineering for his research work in the area of Multi-microprocessor Applications. He has presented research papers in several International Conferences in Europe, USA, UK and other countries. He has delivered invited talks at several national and international events. Dr. K.Poulose Jacob is a Permanent Professional Member of the ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and a Life Member of the Computer Society of India. His research interests are in Information Systems Engineering, Intelligent Architectures and Networks. Till now five candidates have obtained PhD degrees under his supervision. He has more than 50 research publications to his credit. He is Chairman of the Board of Studies in Computer Science at CUSAT as well as been Dean of the Faculty of Engineering
